Google Places is now Google+ Local

Google Places is still around but is has now been incorporated into Google+. We anticipated that this would happen and believe that it will be beneficial to Google Places. Give us a call and we’ll explain.

97% of consumers search for local businesses online. Your business needs to be there when they’re looking for you.

The first place to start with local search is Google Places for business – a free local platform from Google.

Why add your listing to Google Places?

Each business listing on Google is in fact a giant ‘cluster’ of information that they gather from a few different places: Yellow Pages, for example, as well as other third-party providers.

Once you’ve verified your listing, you can enhance the Place page for your business by adding photos, videos, coupons, and even real-time updates like weekly specials all on your Place page. Verifying your listing gives you the opportunity to share even more information about your business with your customers.

  • Reach new local customers on Google Maps and who are already searching for the products and services you offer.
  • Works great for businesses of any size – whether you run a single dentist’s office or dozens of coffee shops.
  • Enhancing your listing allows you to make your business standout from your competitors.
  • Google Places provides a description, map to your store, contact information, hours of operation, reviews from your customers and more.
  • A Google Place listing is free. A basic phone book ad costs an average of $300 per year without any enhancements and can only be updated annually.

Most searches are location specific – especially ones done with mobile phones. By using the searchers location when searching for a store, a product, a service or a restaurant, Google can help direct customers to your front door.

Claiming your business listing is the first step to local search optimization. At Universalbite, we utilize the latest techniques to help your business appear higher in the Google Place search results as well as in other search results on desktops using geo-location and mobile devices.
